Although infrequent, certain types of headaches can be reduced with simple movements.

Headaches are divided into two main categories. Of the two main types, "Primary Headaches" are more common and very difficult to treat. Secondary Headaches are less common, but within that group there is a type of headache that is very treatable. This is called a "cervicogenic headache".

TYPES EXAMPLES FREQUENCY TREATMENTS
Primary Type Migraine, Cluster, Tension More Common Various & difficult to treat
Secondary Type Cervicogenic, Trauma, Infection Less Common Various. Cervicogenic: Neck Movements

How do I know if I have a Cervicogenic Headache?

Here are the most common symptoms and signs of a Cervicogenic Headache:

  1. May or may not have neck pain. May or may not have neck motion loss.
  2. May be located only in the head or even face.
  3. Intermittent pain that is consistent w/ certain activities
  4. Usually sustained postures (remaining in the same position/posture) bring on the headache.

How do I address a Cervicogenic Headache?

For each of the, try doing the movement 10x when you have the headache and do 2-3 sets a day. If that doesn't work, don't skip to the next movement. Try sustaining the position for 30 seconds x3-5.

I pray this helps you in stewarding your body to the glory of God.
